I’m not even going to lie to you all… life has been rough lately.
The biggest reason I haven’t been writing lately has been being exhausted from working my dead-end day job, just trying to pay my bills. And honestly, I can’t even seem to do that lately.
Life has been a constant struggle for me when it comes to projects like this. Everyone I’ve started has failed miserably because I can’t devote the time to the process. Eventually, it stalls, then it fails.
I’m sure many out there have experience with something similar, and I am not trying to be a downer here. It’s just something that weighs on my mind as I try to do something to break out of the daily grind and establish myself.
Here are two things that have stopped me from progressing:
Always looking at the success of others and trying to emulate their processes. The bottom line of it all… I’m not them and what they do won’t necessarily work for me. I have to take the basics and make them my own.
Comparing the success of others with my own. This has ultimately resulted in pushing too far, too fast, and beyond my ability to finance the project.
I’ve placed my vision and goals on the backburner looking for quick success.
And one thing I have learned over the years of trying to do this? That never works. You just have to stick with it and do a thing because you love to do a thing.
So, that’s what I’m going to refocus on. Not sure how it’ll work out, but my writing is going back to being much more diverse. I can’t stand pigeonholing myself with one topic, and I don’t care how “against the rules” that is.
