Issue #144
I now have 3 books available on Amazon and in my store that will help answer any questions you may have about getting started developing your brand and platform, and growing your audience, among other tips and tricks. Don’t miss out on these!
So, you have a newsletter? Try running it like a restaurant.
Want to have an instant bestseller on Amazon? This could help.
Text Blaze is, by far, one of the best tools I’ve adopted into my tech stack. It makes automating my processes much easier.
Hey friends,
I know it’s been a minute since my last newsletter. I stepped away from sending regular updates back at the end of July, and now I want to give you a bit of insight into why I hit pause and what’s coming next.
First off, burnout. Classic, right? I fell into the trap of trying to build too much, too fast. I’ve always had this “go big or go home” mindset (hello, Gemini life), but it caught up to me. I was overloading myself, not following my own plan, and spreading my energy way too thin. So, I’m pulling things back and leaning into the minimalist creator mindset that’s always been at the heart of my approach. That means I’m archiving the Skool community, reevaluating the tools I use, and shifting to a more practical, sustainable way of growing.
Another thing that led to burnout? Trying to follow everyone else’s advice. I got caught up in trying to do things “right” according to what others were doing, and it took me further from what I wanted to build. Lesson learned – going forward, I’m sticking to my own lane.
On a personal note, life’s been busy in all the best ways. My wife's daughter had a baby girl, and my daughter recently shared some exciting news of her own – she’s pregnant! So, between those two things, family has been front and center in my mind.
Now that I’ve had some time to reflect, here’s what you can expect from me moving forward:
I’ll be sending out one post a week for now, every Friday morning by 7 AM Eastern Time US. I’ve got a full-time job and a pretty full family life, so I need to be practical. I want to show up for you all consistently, but I also need to manage everything else on my plate.
I’m focusing more on minimalist creation, especially when it comes to writing. We’ll be diving deep into how to build a platform as a writer without overcomplicating the process.
I’ll be talking more about fiction! My background is in creative writing, specifically genre fiction, and it’s time I lean into that more. While non-fiction has always been a big part of my day-to-day, fiction is where my degree and passion truly lie.
Lastly, I’ll be releasing more courses on Gumroad, so keep an eye out for those if you're interested in leveling up your own writing or platform.
I’m excited to get back to it and hope you’ll stick around for what’s next!
Thanks for reading! If you loved it, forward it to your friends to subscribe.

As a fellow human who also has both a busy professional and family life, I know it can be hard to strike that perfect balance between working on your goals and not burning out. Let's have each other's backs here on Substack, shall we? 😉
I'm glad to see you back Joe! And happy to know you had time to revaluate things and focus on what's most important to you.
